Played with all sorts of toy guns when I was a kid. We even carved long-guns out of 1x2's at one point, with dad helping out.
I did turn into a peace officer for 34 years, Hmmmm. Got to pack gun(s) every day I wasn't working inside. Didn't even get to shoot anyone. Came close on 2 occasions, though. Close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades and tit fights.

I played with toy guns almost everyday of my youth. But, my Dad made sure I knew the difference in a real gun and a toy gun. When he got me my own real gun (a single shot .410) he took me out and put a carton of milk on a fence post and shot it. Of course it blew up, milk went everywhere and he told me “It will do the same thing to you, be careful with it”. I’m 67 now and I remember that like it was yesterday !!!!!

As kids we played Cowboy and Indians with toy guns and bows. We too were schooled on the difference between make believe and reality. Even with slug guns it was never point it at a person or the farm dogs.

The computer games have some of the most graphic images that they start the de-sensitization at young ages and parents do not think to teach the difference between games and reality.
