I quized Remington
"The request is specific to the SPR22 double rifle, many locations list this item, but, where is the stock?
Could you please give some indication of where these guns are and when and how many are likely to be available"
They responded promptly.
"We appreciate your patience. The SPR22 has not been distributed at this time. We hope to begin distributing them later this Fall or by early Winter to Remington Wholesalers."

Thanks K80
It would make sense to get them on the shelves with plenty of time for the Autumn (Northern Hemispere) hunt season let alone Christmas.
I quizzed them on the regulation method (response below) and they answered half the question. They have explained how the jackscrew adjusts the horizontal dispersion, fair enough.
But, seemed confused about vertical dispersion, since when do your sights affect regulation?
Anyway, I have thanked them for half the answer and tried to spell out my question so they understand I am talking about regulation for vertical dispersion not sighting for elevation, see what happens.
Could one jack screw do both? Could vertical dispersion just be right and requires not adjustment?
All will be revealed.

Thank you for your patience. The left barrel is fixed, the right barrel is regulated for windage. To adjust the right barrel so it shoots where the left barrel is pointing, there is a JACK SCREW between the two barrels halfway up from the fore end to the muzzle. If the shooter wants to bring the shot of the right barrel closer to the shot out of the left, he will turn the JACK SCREW clockwise. If the shooter wants to move the shot placement of the right barrel away from the shot placement of the left, the shooter will turn the JACK SCEW counterclockwise. Hence that this firearm is regulated. Shoot left barrel first, then regulate the right barrel accordingly. Remember the JACKSCREW only adjusts windage. The sights adjust elevation.

It appears, like the rest of the SxS doubles that adjust, they only adjust side to side and not up and down. In theory it should shoot to the same vertical plane.

Ken,
I talked to one gun store up here today and was told not to expect to see them on the shelves until next summer. Supposedly we are about 6 months behind on new releases from the U.S.

Which other SxS adjust with a jackscrew?

AR2201: The Krieghoff for sure adjusts with a screw and wedge system. The barrels can be adjusted for windage (horizontally) but not up and down. The Blaser S2 also adjusts for windage and apprears not to adjust up or down. I think thats the extent of it. The Valmet O/U adjusts for windage with jack screws but can also adjust vertically with a sliding wedge between the barrels. If the Spartan ever gets here it will be interesting. My local gun shop has a standing order to pick me up one when they finally get here.

The classical double rifle has fixed sights. It may be equipped with flip up leaves for longer ranges, but each of these in itself is a fixed sight in the sense that it has no adjustment. When the rifle is regulated, the first part of the process is getting both barrels to shoot together. The second and lesser step is to adjust the sights so they are looking at the point of impact. Hence the sights are part of the regulation picture. If the sights are fully adjustable then this does not apply.
In a perfect world the side by side would have to be regulated only for horizontal dispersion and the over under would have to be regulated only for vertical dispersion. These are the adjustments provided on a rifle with adjustable regulation in only a single plane. Hopefully the rifle has been built with enough care that dispersion in the other plane will be minimal. The change in regulation due to change in load will occur mostly in the plane for which adjustment has been provided.
Of course it's not a perfect world ...

Dave-
At this point it can be assumed that the rifles *basically* don't exist. Won't be till they do that anyone would be able to answer that question.

I have a running bet with a certain person on AR that it will be a LONG time before we see these rifles.
I keep "double or nothing-ing" the bet so I think the Second Coming of Christ will happen first.
