Yes the Siace double is made in Italy. Dewings Rod shop had them for awhile. Saw one advertised about a month ago.
Guns America is how I found mine. I have a hammerless and there is a hammer 45-70 in Guns America now.
The Siace doubles I have seen have been in 9.3 X 74R, 30-06 and 45-70. I found Siace's web site but could not read it. Don't read Italian. New England Firearms use to carry them but when I emailed about them they never answered.
I love my 45-70 and its the double I always wanted. I have several old and new doubles in different calibers. This 45-70 shoots great with a heavy enough load to shoot anything in America. May even take it to Africa the next time I go.
This is the cheapest, funnest, Most practical double for the double lover to shoot.
I'LL try to post a photo of mine when I figure out how to do it.

Sam

In reply to:

The Top Lever Hammer configuration is the most elegant IMHO

I'll second that! My favorite by far in terms of looks and lines. Its a bit slower than a hammerless on the reload, but the elagance of hammers more than makes up for it in my book, and the top lever is much faster that an underlever. If it were just about efficency we'd all use AKs or FALs anyway. The triple crown would be a top lever/hammer in a large bore BPE. Still haven't laid my hands on one of those.

I have a few AK appropriate doubles and am usually found at birchwood on Sat am's if not hunting. Be forewarned, you can't look back!

O Bob

Could you please post your Country and/or State. It helps when we talk about things that are unique to one Country.

As for me I like the hammerless, round action with the snap lever underneath for appearance.

You are right that we are not talking efficiency here but beauty.
