There is no "1892 MS."

MS denotes Mannlicher Schoenauer, the first of which was the M1900 (prototypes, pre production) followed by Y1903, M1903, M1905, M1908, M1910... .

Mannlicher Schoenauers, by definition, are equipped with the Schoenauer rotary magazine. The Steyr M1892 used the 'en bloc', originally patented / marketed as the Mannlicher Packet Loading System.

Holland & Holland. Rotating the lever on the forward base allows the front ring assembly to be lifted upward, tilting the scope down at the rear and withdrawing the rear claw from its receptacle.

Casper50, can you elaborate more on the details of the gun in the picture? Is this your rifle? Do you have anymore pics of it?
With what little can be seen in the picture, yes I would say the scope mounts are English and very H&H at that. But you can also see it is checkered on the forearm which leads me to think it is a commercial sporting rifle built on a Steyr action made in 1893, of the pattern Steyr was making for the Romanians.

It isn't mine but does belong to a member of the group. I posted a WTB ad looking for one and he sent me photos of this one. It doesn't meet my criteria so I'm passing on it but was curious about the side mount.

Thanks, maybe the owner will read this and choose to post pics.

Is this the type of scope/rings that it should have?

Not an expert on British makers or on scoped '92s, but I would say that a 'proper' scope for a sporting Model 1892 Steyr would be whatever 'scope and mounts were favored by Holland, Gibbs, Jeffery, and other British makers of the time.

Whether or not Steyr ever sold 'scoped 1892s directly would be a question for those better informed than I, perhaps Kuduae.

Here is a Gibbs M1892, photos of mount aren't 'close ups', though: https://staging.collectorsfirearms.com/p...lent-r4379.html

Here is a discussion regarding the M1892, M1893... : https://www.gunboards.com/threads/steyr-m92-vs-m93-for-romania-and-later-portugal.1234888/

Another, the second post of which is of interest: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/britishm...fles-t2011.html
