Anyone hunted Africa in 2022, what about 2023?

No one has I think has posted a 2022 African hunting story?

If you have gone on safari in 2022, please share stories and photos. If you have posted them on Arab Reloading or Farcebook and not here, shame! Please redeem yourself and post here.

Anyone got big plans for 2023 safari?

I can only dream myself so please share.

Buf in 2023. If I happen across a stellar Sable too, well, you never can tell...

Yes, I hunted the East Cape first ten days of June 2022 with JohnXsafaris. Absolutely delighted with every aspect of accommodations, planning, quality of game and professionalism.

I was fortunate that of the six species taken, all were very old and five of them were quite exceptional representatives of their species. I can highly recommend this outfitter without reservation,

What the projects for 2023 are about, because unfortunately some things have become too routine, I want to hunt in other areas of Africa than always south or southeast Africa. Burkina Faso, where I hunted regularly for almost 15 years, is finish because of terrorism. I am looking for an opportunity to hunt dwarf buffalo in Congo.

Yes, that's right. It is a Winchester Model 70 pre-64 caliber 375 H&H Magnum from 1952.

It's a rifle that I borrowed because importing weapons to Mozambique is not that easy and I booked this hunt in the short term. Normally I prefer to hunt buffaloes with larger calibers, but only this weapon was available. It worked, but with the same shot placement it works even better with big bores.

My old buddy Lester H. Hawkes, formerly of Kalispel Montana had a matched pair of 1952 M70's, both with 2 1/2X Lyman Alaskans right from the factory, seems to me.
He used one for guiding, which he cut to 22" of barrel. The other was stock & as of 1976, was unfired. I was the first one to shoot it & with his old load of 70gr. 4064 and a 270gr. Winchester Power Point. I see this load is now 2gr. over max according to Hodgdon. 70gr. was the GO-TO load for .375's and 270,s back in the 70's and 80's. 68.0gr. was the 300gr. load.
Interesting, this "progress". No - those loads were not excessive. I used the same loads in my BRNO .375. NP- ever.
A buddy of mine in Smithers owns that 'barely fired' 1952 25" bl'd, M70 .375 today.
The other one disappeared to Hyder, Alaska, with his step - kids I assume, after he passed.

Very nice GV. Thanks for posting.

Mozambique seems to have replaced Zimbabwe for popularity. As for being ho hum, I've yet to hunt there even once!

The Congo would be adventurous. Your ability to speak French makes a lot of African Francophile countries are so much more accessible. French is difficult to my ear and mouth ! So many of these places I once wanted to travel to and through.

Pity about Burkino Faso. The African disease of disorder and chaos.

Good luck in the Congo.

Thank's, I will need it !

Hunting buffalo in Congo, in areas that are mainly covered with dense rainforest, does not seem to be that easy. According to the information I have received, success by buffalo hunting during a Bongo hunt is never guaranteed as it is not the same type of hunt. Bongo hunting does not interest me, but all hunts in the south of Cameroun or in the Congo are mainly specialized in this game species. Special hunts for forest buffalo in regions where savannas come into contact with rain forest hardly seem to exist.

I will see what suggestion is made to me.
