The Essence of Perfection – an old Rigby in Alaska
A 120-year-old Rigby has recently resurfaced in the Alaskan wilderness and is looking forward to some spectacular 21st century adventures. Its new lease of life comes thanks to hunting guides Taj and Phil Shoemaker of Grizzly Skins of Alaska, both of whom have a long-standing love of classic firearms.

Phil showed me an image of how he transports his Rigby. On the wing strut in an open gunboot tied to stop it falling out. Got to post it up.

N ice rifle. Amazingly unsymmetrical rack. Those tundra tires are really something. Interesting plane, with flaps & 3 or 4 seats. What is it, pray tell.

If Phil doesn't answer or see this, I asked him that too. Have to find the answer.

Looks like a Piper Super Cub to me. Usually a 2 seater. Pax sits directly behind the pilot.

Well done to the hunter - what a great rack! Glad to see an oldie & a goodie still being used as it should!

Super Cub's back in the 70's had 180HP engines. I didn't think they had flaps, though. I really can't remember.

Certainly makes short takeoffs & bleeding off speed while descending a lot easier.
