I was hunting in Lika - SE part of Croatia - it is a high plateau - rocky, hard, dry...north of Velebit mountain range - on the south of Velebit is Adriatic Sea.

Hunting there is still quite pristine compared to Northern EU standards - relaxed (still goal oriented tho) - some things are not so strict and if you let go you get most out of it.

People are just like the country - simple with hard (yet thin) shell and big hearts - very proud...
Ex Yugoslav war is still hanging in the air - they have fought for those parts and lost their relatives during the war.
Many hunters are war veterans and you get to hear quite some 1st hand stories from that era if you ask...

Yes it is an unique adventure if you are open to look and listen - nothing like it in the rest of EU.

Hope you get to experience a lot more of that hunting territory Mouse!
Would be wonderful to see some pictures if you can?

Have many pictures - just some of the latest - I was there for driven boar hunting, but made a short trip to Velebit

This is Lika plateau looking toward SW - burned down house, war remnant, Velebit ridge in the background

This is up at the Velebit - I was hunting Rock Partridges - it was windy and cold as hell

Great place for Chamois as well - a short vid from one of my earlier hunts:

And this is a view from the Velebit toward south and Adriatic sea:

I also like a scope, particularly in wooded environment. However, the right lens of my shooting glasses are reversed progressive with the magnifying up top so I can see my front sight. I shoot with both eyes open. Good for the target range but not great for hunting where game is in shadows and I need a scope to more clearly see the game..

Heavy bullet. You like that 293gr. project tile, don't you.

No one's mentioned the 3 metre shot. No doubt charging beige death!

Maybe those heavy TUGs don't expand much in light game and lesser meat damage?

Waidmannsheil Mouse on your lovely roebuck and tasty roebuck venison.

Impact vel. likely 2,300fps or so. I'd expect almost zero expansion & tiny amount of meat damage or likely none.

Been there done that - just back, roe rut wasn't that good (yet) still got one (keiler in the back was shot by a friend):

And a proper "Keiler":

Just a note - after lots of experimenting with different bullets in 9,3x62 - from lightest and fastest monos upward - I am back to my prefered combo - 19g TUG - (factory loaded by Brenekke - still going 740 m/s). Drilled this big boy through both shoulders, it fell on the spot...

You do like that dual core @ 2,448 fps I see.
I was running those at 2,200fps from my 9.3x57. Accurate, as in 1" for 3 at 100 meters.

Congratulations.

A boar and a roebuck were on my target list for May. Alas I took neither.

Nice shooting 93mouse. Those Boars are a good size. Herr Brenneke did have it right, with cartridges and bullets.
