I had always understood the tiger and sloth-bear were fairly evenly matched.

Many accounts of bear-tiger interactions in the hunting literature.

Interesting to watch the video though, gives the impression that the bear would run out of puff before the tiger!

The tiger seemed determined to eat the bear though. That bear has a bears stobborness though. The tiger seems quite bigger than the bear.

These sloth bears are quite dangerous for people encroaching in the wildlife parks. Kill quite a few people if they encounter them unexpectedly. A guide was telling us at one park during our visit.

That's a really small bear.. at least compared to what you would see in our area..much less a griz or Alaskan Brown bear..

Based on what I saw there if a tiger had to chose a real bear he would lose..

Is the sloth bear's fur that thick that the tiger had difficulty is doing significant damage? That is the only thing that I could think of because at one point, the tiger had the sloth bear down, and it looked like the fight would end. However, the bear got up and then started fighting like it wasn't hurt.

In the beginning, there was asecond bear that looked like it wanted to join in the fight but apparently decided it had business elsewhere.
