Ripp, once again, thanks for posting an interesting article.

Rifles range in price from the Mossberg Patriot Laminate Marinecote • Price: $629 to the Rigby Rising Bite Double Rifle • Price: $136,000. Well, perhaps the Holland was more expensive tyhan the Rigby but the Holland's price isn't listed.

I expect all will do the job equally well; it just depends upon much $$ one has and is willing to spend on a beautiful rifle. While I like the looks of both the Holland and Rigby. I don't think I would ship them to Africa and have them in a Land Cruiser gun rack.

Interesting line up Art. Given a small number of ridiculous inclusions. Guess which ones?

Mossberg & Marlin in the same article hinting "Africa" is a joke ………yes, maybe for residents or Natives in rain & cold soaked Alaska/North America.

At one time the marlin lever action in .45/70 was chatted about as being the "ideal choice for Cape Buffalo". I see this article attempts some such guff. ArabReloading had lots of trolls pushing that crap ad naseum.

When I hunted in the Matetsi, one guy tried shooting an elephant down in the skull tontest out penetration. With a 540 gr hard cast projectile. It penetrated adequately. He planned to return to hunt an elephant with one. Reportedly did.

A PH at the time said he was going to buy a marlin .45/70 as a saddle backup rifle for horse back safaris on his farm. But he lost it while I was there to a warvet invasion.

Should it be included on the list? Imo no.

Same as that Ruger no.1 in the inadequate calibre. Just paid advertising snuck in there.

Agree.. Suck BS.. nothing is sacred anymore..

Seriously.. have never seen anyone carrying a lever hunting DG in Africa.. would be one of my last choices..right along with a single shot Ruger.. which probably would be my last choice..possibly in more ways than one..
