Man, that's an awesome price, but what would it cost to import that into the country with shipping, insurance, and import fees and all? Close to double?

Into the US, there would be no import duties as it is an "antique" not a "firearm". No FFL is required. Figure that the insurance and shipping ought to not exceed $2-300, IMO. This is my understanding from reading the federal firearms handbook issued to all FFL holders. I happen to have a C&R, myself, and imported a W.W. Greener Mauser .318 WR that was much younger than the old double rifle. It was c. 1939 so this is even older and therefore has even fewer restrictions.

Gentlemen, I believe that rifle is in the US and maybe even in California. Drop Craig an email for details.

That gun looks like it hasn't done much work
- it looks to be still "on the face"
- it also looks to have been oiled and stored for a long period of time.

The engraving looks "uncarried" and if the bores are good
then it was probably cleaned well before being put away.

IMHO, US$3300 for a gun like that is good value if in the conditon
is as described.

For those who are looking for a bargain, that;s a cheap way to get into
an English double.

I'm not sure it is a cordite gun. If it is BP the price is good but not great.

It is a BP gun.

Mickey, as you know alot of BP guns have rubbish bores and are worn
all over. I blew up the photos and did a couple of other things that allow me
to see the condition even though the photos are not great.

It looks like one of those sleepers you see that have been covered in oil
and left in storage.

A good black powder gun in good nick are getting harder to find.

I emailed the sender and got a few more pictures. As 500Nitro says good BP guns are getting difficult to find and this looks pretty good. If I was interested, I would have to look at it in person before buying it.

For someone into BP it is probably a pretty good rifle.

Looks like he moved the gun over to Gunbroker Auction http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=36318759
