Interesting, but wouldn't let me view without disabling my add blocker - oh well. The FB link might allow me to see it tomorrow. IT happens.

I'm quietly chuckling at the thought of some urban dog thinking its just a big cat, and having a go!

Supposedly they can be tamed. But I've only seen one, in a fairly remote part of B.C. and I decided not to engage with it.

I've lived here (BC) since 79 and hunted fairly well all over this Province. I've yet to see my first wolverine that isn't stuffed & in someone's collection.
Saw my first local Lynx about 25 years after I saw my fist mountain lion, yet the lynx are much more plentiful and at that time, mountain lions were unheard of around here (1979).

They are spotted during the day as well..however I do believe they are more active at night..The one and only I saw was at night..
I know of others who have seen them while out hunting during the day.. Montana and Alaska

Most carnivores hunt 24/7, I think, as in when they are hungry. Around here, due to hunting pressure, the wolves hunt at night - every night. We are not allowed to do the same.

That was interesting, lancaster. We have Fishers here and in places with a lot of bush near town or in people's backyards, as in Mackenzie, BC, house cats end up in a Fishers diet.

to be true until last week I was not aware another marten specie exist in size between the american pin marten and the volverine in north america. its very embarrassing. in europe we have two marten - the house or white breasted marten and the european pine marten or yellow breasted marten. the house marten live near humans the pine marten avoid him. so the two are more like two subspecies in different environments and don't come in competition with each other. I think the fischer and the american pine marten have allso different niches in the eco system. the winter fur of the fischer must have been a good price back in the days when you can made a living being a trapper.
this interesting video was coming by the allgorythm - the fox and the fischer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwDeneavCjY

Thanks for posting Ripp. I would not like to run into one that was hungry and not be armed. Have to admit I knew nothing of the Marten or Fischer.

We are developing a slighlty larger, bulkier Pine Martin on Haida Gwaii (Queen Charoltte islands) off the West coast at approximately Prince Rupert. These Pine Martins have "taken' to eating the small sitka deer on the island.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-c...-deer-1.4232618
That video of the Fisher toying with the fox was incredible. I'm thinking it would fairly easily for it to kill the fox and was just toying with it. They can move incredibly fast - and when "trucking" look like a brown streak about 6' long. Martin's too. A red squirrel is pretty much "toast" if a Martin goes after it. Look like a snake going round a tree at 90mph- just a blur. Fisher and Martin both bring good prices, seems to me.
