Dang... too bad for that hunter.
Lesson for us all. If in doubt, or there is any possibility of the game not being dead, shoot again!
Even the most expensive bullet costs less then a hospital bill---- or a funeral.

Very unfortunate hunter, bad luck to have femoral artery severed and no-one nearby with first-aid knowledge to get onto the pressure-point in the groin, or strap him up.

In the case of a wild boar, it might be justified to shift from "beacon of enlightenment" you mentioned to "bacon of enlightenment".
