what would you think a once common air pistol will sell today when in good condition?
this Haenel Mod. 28 R sold on christmas eve for 3377 euro, this are 5287 Aussie $$$ or 3823 US $$

A SCARCE .177 CYLINDER-COCKING SPRING-PISTON REPEATING AIR-PISTOL, MODEL '28R', made by Haenel, serial no. 1958, designed by Hugo Schmeisser in 1927, with fixed rifled barrel, blade fore-sight, elevating buckhorn rear-sight, hinged air-chamber lifting to cock, the top of chamber stamped 'HAENEL MOD. 28R, BRIT. PAT. NO. 277265 DRP', loading aperture to rear, push-button cylinder release forwards of the trigger-guard bow and smooth wood grips with 'Haenel' medallions inlet to heel. Very nice condition, 98% original blueing, works perfectly, strong power! With elderly original paper-box!

I don't know how rare one of these would be, but this piece of kit is in amazing order!
To a collector it would be worth every $.
I'm assuming here Herr Schmeisser is same of MP40 Schmeisser fame?

the mpi 38/40 schmeisser fame is wrong
this was stamped on the magazine because this was a hugo schmeisser design. this submachine gun was developt by heinrich vollmer.
hugo schmeisser was the designer of the first submachine gun, the mpi 18 and
he was the designer of the first real assault rifle, the the sturmgewehr 44.
the soviets displace him into the worker's paradise after the war where he was very near the developtment of the AK 47.
but the soviets swear black and blue later that schmeisser did nothing there and being to stupid to clean up the work shop.
and yes, the price is a complete surprise
the pistols are rare today but not so rare until christmas

That's interesting. There is one made today that looks similar & sold by Diana- and it's called DIANA: MAUSER 98.
It is avaiable in both spring piston as well as PCP.

to get a comparison with this air pistol price - I sold a like new Merkel double rifle in 9,3x74R with zeiss scope for only 33 euro more last week!
