JMK - A question about your .700/.577

JMK:

Welcome to the club. WR makes some fine rifles.

I do have a question for you regarding WR's .700/.577 bullet.

Can you tell us a little bit about the background on this caliber, why it was designed?

As I understand it, you are pushing a 900 grain bullet at around 2300 ft/sec. Isn't this close to the .577 T-Rex? Why not just rim the T-Rex bullets to fit in a DR? problems with pressure?

Again, welcome to the club. The great thing about NE is the wealth of knowledge of firearms (especially DRs) all its member possess. Thanks for sharing yours with us also.

V/r

Clark--

Thank you kindly for your warm welcome. You can see that I am not on this Board very often. Usually, I'm on the trail of more guns and rifles for Westley Richards Agency.

The 700/.577 was a collaborative effort some years ago amongst our client, Westley Richards, and Wolfgang Romey who loads our metallic ammunition in Germany and was intended to be a one-off effort.

I am not familiar with the origins of the T-Rex but I think our 700/.577 cartridge predates it.

Sorry for the tardy response.

Hello!

As far as i know your client wanted the power of a 50BMG out of a DR but in the end when testing the gun he was very impressed by the horrible "power"...
