It has been a while since I have posted. However, I have need of the forum's help. I have the option to by a Searcy 475 Wells for $500. It looks new and is a great bolt rifle. My question is what is the cartidge based on and who has reloading info on it? Also does anyone sell ammo already loaded in the caliber?

Look in Cartridges of the World
This should have all of the info you need.

.460 Wby necked up. Sort of like the .470 A&M, especially in that it can't possibly produce the ballistics shown in CotW. What it can produce, though, is impressive, to say the least! Might I suggest wheels and a lanyard?

500 Nitro,

I have a copy of Barn's book at "home" but ye gads I am at the office. I have a forty-five minute drive one way. Nevertheless, I have tentatively bought this gun sight unseen - more or less. I could find not information on it via google. I will give it a gander in Cartidges of the World this evening. My curosity was getting the best of me.

Trex,

My post did come across a bit skewed !!! - apologise

I would have looked it up myself exept I dropped round my copy
to a mate today. I also couldn't find any other book with it in
but I knew it was in COTW.

Anyway, good luck.

Why would a Searcy big bore be only $500.

Has a zero been left out in the price? You should have one of the finest rifles available for practically nothing if it is only $ 500 that the seller wants. Good luck and do post pictures here after you buy it.
