BLASER S2 DOUBLE RIFLES
      #35596 - 09/08/05 01:30 AM

Has anyone heard any news from the field on this "new" double rifle? I have heard nothing but I am curious.

I have handled them. They do not have a soldered rib. Instead there is a piece of rubber between the barrels. They have a manual cocking thing like the Krieghoff. After being reloaded, the S2 must be re-cocked, so it is a bit like using a hammer gun. The barrels can be re-regulated using set screws. The ones I handled had a high comb for a scope and it was difficult to get on the sights.

Hello 500 grains! Rubber between the barrels???? That is a new twist. I really don't like the cocking device as I find it awkward. One of the primary reasons I don't like Krieghoff.

I have handled them as well. The safety seems as if it is probably safer, considering that you carry it uncocked. However not as quick to take off as a standard safety. The rubber between the barrels is UGLY...imho. I am not prejudiced against Blaser as I own 2 R93's. After looking at the Blaser next to any old English or modern (Searcy, Heym etc.) double I took it off of my wish list. Armbar

Thank you for your response. It would appear that they are not the favorite of to many hunters. I also agree with you regarding the R 93's. They are very accurate weapons and offer a variety of calibers.

The gun is a 470 NE and I really like the balance and handling, I have no problem with the saftey even if it is a little bit harder than on the classic ones. Feels good to know it's safe though.

At the moment I have a sighting problem between the two barrels and I will report further on that issue when it is solved or not...

http://at-home.nu/470ne.wmv

shows when I shot it, the recoil is actually softer than what you would think thanks to a hevy gun, straight stock and built in kick stop.

CCHunter
It looks like that 470 has the recoil of a 243 when you shoot it.
Tell us more about your problem with the S 2.

The problem with my double is thatit shots one high and one low. Tha rep in Sweden says its because of the ammo but I have my doubts and at the moment it's away for investigation with a gunsmith.

Next time I will try to hold the gun a little bit better, I don't want it to look more than maximum .222

That S2 i handled was not decocked after firering. It was always ready for fire after reloading, as long as the cock is in "Fire-position"!

If you are saying one barrel shoots higher than the other than that is not an ammunition problem it is a regulation problem.

Doesn't the Blaser have adjustment screws for this.

CCHunter,

Does your rifle has the regulating system? If it does, can you post a picture? I would like to see it.

I understand the regulating system only regulates side to side, not up and down. At least that is what the Sig rep told me.

Blaser's brochure says;
"Free-floating Barrels
Both barrels can expand freely and independently of each other. On the double rifle, both barrels are supported inside a sleeve tube an can be adjusted to the same point of impact. The same applies to the rifle barrel on the rifle/shotgun-combination, making it easy to adjust it to the shotgun barrel, especially when shooting with slugs."

It doesn't say side to side or up and down, it says adjustable.

The S2 Safari [375 and up] does not have the same adjustment at the muzzle feature.

Correct, The Safari Model is not as easy to regulate as the other models.
