Very nice pieces of kit there mate!
Rotthammer will certainly love these beautiful specimens of yours - both in tip top order too!

rpeck,
That 1903 is a great looking classic in a very nice traditional calibre. Good on you.

Very nice rifles indeed; I am not a great fan of the MC stocks however a MS in 30-06 should be a great piece of kit to own!

How right you are!

I agree with yours, 3Dogs, and Louis' assessments.

Though both appear, indeed, to be in 'top order' and there's a lot to be said for the 'scoped .30-'06 number, if I could choose only one it would have to be the uncut '03 stutzen. Off the shelf' cartridges are readily available for either, but I've a soft spot for the pre WW2 models.

An original M1924 stutzen would fill the bill nicely!

Those are both lovely firearms, Rpeck.

The 1903 has what the English-language M-S catalog at the time referred to as "pretty wood,"
an available special order factory upgrade. It also has finer checkering than the regular factory stock.
Most M-S wood of the time is remarkably bland.

The Model 1956 "slope-away" stock works remarkably well for head positioning with either open sight or scope.
I also didn't like the looks of it until I actually tried it. Now I am a convert.

"Pretty wood" and "slope-away." Got it. Thanks.

Different catalogs, different descriptors of the same things.
