Your jackalope seems to be a close relative of the Bavarian Wolpertinger, called a Rasselbock in Thuringia. Here is such a beast as painted by Albrecht Dürer 500 years ago.

they are known under different names, I know this one as Muffelbock




but don't ask me about this strange kind of fox I see in denmark years ago

Fearsome beast that one kuduae!
You wouldn't want to come across one of those doing your job - guess that's why you fellows in Germany use drillings, ball or shot.....which one do you use???
