John, Not sure if you can get Hornady Bullets in Aus , but they make a 350 and a 300 grain bullet in 458 dia. For plinking or pigs or deer, they are more than adequate. And they are plenty accurate for hunting.

I use the nitro for black loads in Wright's book in my .450 NE with 300 grain cast or jacketed bullets and they work great.

Speer 350gr. .458 has a 1/16" thick jacket & is meant for the .458 Winchester. For any expansion to take place, it must be started at a minimum of 2,100fps, seems to me. Might have been 2,000fps minimum MV. They were very accurate in my .458 2", at 2,300fps. Sold my last rifle in this calibre, before getting to shoot anything with them besides paper.

Wunderbar Capitan Marrakai. Looks pretty good.
I'll replace my travesty of a reading /!translation of it later on to avoid perpetual embarrassment!
I'll have to re-weigh it. I'm sure it is actually 13 1/2 lbs, heavy! 11 1/2 lbs was I guess the target weight.
The Indian "Bison" (or gaur) is spot on.
I'm glad to see the 1906 date. I wanted a pre WW1 rifle.
Thanks to Roy, for obtaining the Jeffery Daybook records.
If only one could know who was the initial buyer and it's history over the last 117 years. I'll have to use writer's licence and invent some stories and history.
One day must get a Jeffery labelled car case for it, tea can be used to age paper or parchment. Not a new case, but a good condition old one. I've got several but they are either too shabby, too modern, too plain, or not divided properly inside. The car case outfitted with suitable bits and pieces. Emblazoned with it's infamous owner's initials "J.J.H." .

Many years ago (2005?), from Friedkin through Paul Roberts. Posted on these forums at the time.
But it was good of Roy to confirm it, and to add my Jeffery Mannlicher as well.
