Paradox For a Friend
      #34987 - 23/07/05 04:03 PM

I have a good friend (and the man responsible for corrupting me with the double rifle sickness) looking to buy a 12 bore Paradox with pistol grip, underlever, double hammered back action. Does anyone know of a gun meeting this criteria for sale?

P.S. Not sure if I should have put this in the shotgun or the double forum, if it is in the wrong forum, I am sorry and will try to rectify the wrong.

500 is a nice round number, either followed by "Nitro Express" or by "cubic inch displacement".

You put it in the right place! The paradox bore "RIFLES" are rifles that shoot very large bullets, from Brass shells, but are capable of useing shot cartridges if the need arrises!

IMO, too many people overlook the BORE rifles, as somehow not worthy of consideration as serious double rifles. They are missing out on a very special firearm. Their cambering has to be much larger to take on Dangerous game, than with a regular double rifle, but the BORE RIFLES from 16 bore up to about 10 bore are fine woods rifles for deer, moose, and bear. The 8 bore up is where the dangerous game starts, with it's attendant recoil, and weight!

Do a search on the forums - Sabatti make a hammerless Paradox gun and you should be able to find older ones if you check out the various websites. If your friend would like to import one from the UK, I have a friend who is a dealer and whom I could introduce to you. As a matter of fact, both he and a very respectable member from California are set to start dealing in doubles from the UK very soon, but I'll let them announce that here.

Good hunting!

If your friend is interested in a 10 Bore paradox as described, send me a pm.

"iwantadouble"

Not a problem with posting your search on the double rifle forum. Probably the right place anyway, and we are relaxed about this sort of thing here.

Hope your search yields results and if it does, let us know about what you / your friend ends up acquiring. Some other members here were interested in paradoxes a while ago.

MEHULKCAMDAR , is the Sabatti Leopard a Paradox, or a smooth bore? The only ones I've seen were smooth bore shotguns with rifle sights! I didn't know they were makeing a Paradox! The Paradox has the last 8" or so rifled!

MAC,

Sorry, but my mistake - it was a Fabarm gun and the link on which a discussion took place here some time ago is Paradox discussion

Apparently they amde several configurations including a rifled barrel alongside a smoothbore and a Paradox rifled barrel.

Best wishes and good hunting!

A little off the intial topic of asking if anyone knew of a Paradox for a friend, but it still pertains to the friend and bore rifles... I just returned from a visit and viewing of the latest purchases he made. The 10 bore Westley Richards Explora was a beautiful feeling rifle. The 12 bore Manton was nice, too. The Manton is a double hammer, underlever rifle. The Explora is a top break hammergun. He is trying to justify the need to purchase (and spend handsomely for) the Holland .577 that Roosevelt & Drake has, and is awaiting the arival of a cute little Jeffrey .318.
Also in the visit, I was shown pictures of a former fixture in his vault. It was a beautiful 8 bore Paradox double hammer/underlever rifle. Needless to say, he did nothing to curb my desire to own a double today and made me feel guilty for fondling the various rifles and several equally impressive scatterguns.

That H&H .577NE at Roosevelt & Drake is a lot easier to buy now than it was a year ago. The price has been reduced to $95k from $130k.

Still way over my head. . .
