Small ring Mauser
      #349643 - 25/01/21 07:43 AM

Hello

I bought this Rifle a few years ago from a deceased estate.I know nothing of its history as it is void of any markings less serial number and the Kongsberg stamp on the Barrel. This stamp makes sense since I bought the Rifle here in Norway, however I am quite sure Kongsberg Vapenfabrikk did not produce this Rifle.

It is chambered in 8X57 JS

It came with a nice Swarovski scope on Reknagle swing off rings. The Scope dates from the early 1990s.I guess thats when the Rifle was built too?

Gunsmithing is quite expensive here, engraving even more so.Someone spent alot of money on this once upon a time.

Any ideas, suggestions to its provenence ,general comments are all appreciated.

I can't help you with the provenance but it looks like a very nice rifle. No markings on the bottom of the receiver?

Norsk,
you will have to take the rifle out of the stock, most probably there will be a cartouche or two for proofing etc being a European gun - if you can find them they should be out of sight on the bottom of the barrel.
Very nice piece of kit there mate, she's a grand stalking rifle that anyone would be proud to have.

Hello

There is nothing anywhere on the rifle apart from the Serial number, everthing has been scrubbed clean then blued.

This is not unusual for Norway as we have no proof laws,it might be the same for Sweden I dont know.

I certainly am proud of this Rifle,I have taken it hunting a few times unfortunately without success.

Admittidly last time I took it out,I was trying to be a smart arse and stalking into "sniffing distance" of a deer,I spooked it from about 10 meters.
