There's been a run on ammo of all kinds in Texas near me, to the point where you can't find any 12 ga 2 3/4 in shells in any of the stores or even online. (I finally ordered some from RST Shells)
I have a supply of 2 1/2" shells for my British guns. Wondering if these will work in a Mossberg 12 ga pump I keep at the farm for use on crows.

They likely will, however you will have to try them, is all. Some guns will even cycle the 2" (or are the 1 1/2"?) shorty versions.

Tried it guys and it worked with RST 2 1/2” loads. I guess I’ve been too focused on rifle cartridges. The shells cycled just fine.

As you have found, most shorter shells work fine in a Mossberg
I use mine for Practical Shotgun shooting in the UK (All we are allowed to do these days)
One UK maker supplies slightly shorter than 2 1/2" Shells which means that I can get an extra shell in my 8 shot mag
I find my Mossy will digest anything I put into it with no problems, although my friend's (which has put 10X ,more shells through it than mine) plays up much of the time with anything
Good luck I am sure you will be OK!

I haven't tried anything but 3 1/2", 3" and 2 3/4" in my Mossberg, and all functioned perfectly. I do have some 2 1/2" Roll Crimped shells I have loaded up for the "Field" London SxS hammer gun I use for BP loads at Rendezvous. I will try those as well.

I’m glad to see there is some interest in Mossberg. Mine was a gift from my grandfather on my 12th birthday and has been a faithful companion ever since. It’s a 30” full choke and feels heavy to me now but I don’t remember it feeling heavy when I was 12. I’ve killed more game with it, and it means more to me, than any of my fancier guns.

Mine is a newer 835 model. Came with 2 bl.s one 3 1/2" chmambered 28", vent rib with chokes and the other is 3 1/2" chambered 24" rifled tube with iron sights It really likes 2 3/4" full sized slugs of the Gulandi and square(ish, Benneke) shapes. It also shoots into 2" at 30 yds (elbow rest) with 3" WW Fosters @ 1,750fps.
