Mint, NIB Lyman 1A on Ebay
      #346438 - 02/11/20 07:54 PM

A bit pricey, perhaps, but an original, unused, new-in-box Lyman 1A for the Mannlicher Schoenauer bolt.

I still can't understand why someone isn't cloning these and cranking them out in China for $79.

Rothhammer,
I have pounced on this one.........thanks for the pointout.
Likely going to grace my Wm. Evans 1893 Steyr in .256 Mannlicher.

Well, it sure doesn't look new in box, to me. It's in box, for sure, but not NIB.

Glad it went to a NE member!

I considered it for my M1910 but it already has one of these:

Adding a Lyman 1A would seem redundant, but I'm wondering if I should kick myself for not buying this one,

Do let us know how it works out.

Daryl,
That well could be, shall see when it arrives.
That said; neither the (new) owner nor the intended rifle are “NIB” either

My 1899 vintage Evans is in very nice condition tho, so as long as the sight is not a total wreck it should look quite the part.

Got back home today and the package was waiting for me.
The sight is “no shit” NIB, with a few minor pinpoint flecks of humid climate storage rust spots, will get it cleaned up and oiled tomorrow.
The posted pictures on the advert must have had the flash showing wear that was not there.

I believe I’m going to source a spare cocking knob for my Wm. Evans 1893 Steyr .256 Mannlicher and have this mounted to it so that I can preserve the original unaltered.

My guy Steve Bertram (skb/bouldersmith) says it would be an easy upgrade. Will post pictures when done, likely next Spring.

Mike:
Will you need a new rear express sight for the Wm. Evans as well, to preserve the original, or simply remove the standing leaf? Either way, you will really enjoy using the peep if your eyes are anything like mine!

I'm glad it is as advertised, Mike.
It sure looks to be well used - actually skungy, in the photos.
Yeah, I know skungy isn't a word.

In a pinch you may use a Dutch 95 firing pin nut/cocking knob/bolt end from Numrich:

I recall phoning "The Good Old Gals" at GunParts, West Hurley NY for parts, back in the late 70's. The gal's voices just dripped sensual vibes through the phone lines - loved talking to them.
I know it's off topic, but the memories of those voices!!!!
