      #334958 - 29/11/19 05:10 AM

its the number 2, 10 ga double rifle with +/- 65 mm long brass by Blanch(?) for Manton Calucutta

just the right tiger gun, maybe on the light side for pachyderm

owner having two lathe turned cases but looking for more, I think I have what he wants

Is it fully rifled Lancaster?
Due to the spacer in the rib - I'm assuming that it was for a set of sights?

yes, fully rifled

the double was restocked in england but the original stock is there and still fine
I assume the metal as also rework and who knows what they all made then.

Excellent example of the gunmakers art

The later/minimalised? percussion style fences always a bonus

Good rebrowning brings out the 2 (or 3?) stub damascus barrels to good effect

A wide (cape gun type) rib may suggest a South African or Indian history

The 10 bore was a general purpose rifle good for all game but agree with Lancaster possibly a little light for pachyderms in Black Powder

Sidelock and Jones underlever the standard for the time before the idea that back action locks were stronger?

I would certainly give it space in my gunroom!

Good luck in shooting it

the owner of this double needed more brass and what was laying in my reloading cave for many years now?

made from 20x99R a WW 2 sovjet aircraft canon cartridge here for comparison with a 50 bmg case, than a eley 10 ga brass case and my homemade brass

bought the 20x99R once from a metal detector guy who pic them up from battle field
to bad most of them had dents maybe from the action when ejected but I made the best out of this.

because of the big berdan primer I drill them out and set a 38 special case in , then late turn the base. must be drilled for a shot gun primer.

the 38 special case was cut to 10 mm and rivet inside

Ingenious. So cool! No need to be soldered.

I appreciate the modification to salvage old brass. The following is an FYI.

A source of 10ga brass in USA is offered by Track of the Wolf

Not sure "Track" can send those out of the USA - export problems, seems to me - or maybe that is just for us, in Canada.

Track of the wolf states that they can't ship reloading components over sea"s.
