The "lion whisperer" on trophy hunting
      #334800 - 24/11/19 09:49 PM

I don't agree 100% but this expert "lion whisperer" who is not a trophy hunter makes many good points and sums up both sides of the "trophy hunting debate" quite well. If you dislike trophy hunting but are in favour of good wildlife conservation, you must watch this video. And think about what he says. As he says "it is not black and white". I think it is black and white. But I agree completely with him on his comments on ethical and sporting hunting. The only way sporting hunting should be done. J Hahn

Listen carefully to what the “lion whisperer” has to say about trophy hunting, this is a person who lives in Africa and understands the dynamics of hunting with a rational point of view. I personally agree with what he says.

Totally agree. Black and white, but ethics must coincide withing all sport hunting.

He also says he would not hunt for a trophy. But hunt for meat.

So if others readily utilise the meat from a trophy, why the ffff is it different?

The difference between trophy hunting and hunting for the pot is Trophy hunting normally removes the best breeding stock (in regards to Genes of the species)and hunting for the pot does not. Does this do damage to the species, depends on how prolific the trophy hunting is. This is when the trophy's are the biggest and best animals of a species.

Hunting for the post can be more damaging when it is done by locals who snare/poach and just about wipe out species in their area.

" I only hunt for meat "

" I only hunt to help conservation, getting rid of ferals. "

" I only hunt to help the farmer. "

Bullshit!

Hypocritical jerk offs. Even worse in some hunting clubs, they get onto committees, don't like the word "hunting", and replace it everywhere with "conservation".

As for 'hunting for meat', often if you add up the cost of guns, ammo, licences, fuel, etc etc the cost of a kg of duck, venison or whatever far exceeds its price at the butcher. Not always. But I spend $1000 plus on diesel alone to bring back an engel freezer of buffalo meat back from the NT ...

Maybe shooting a great big elk, down the road from where one lives works out differently.

As for hunting, it is

natural,

normal,

enjoyable,

and I enjoy even the kill. 100%.

I saw a poster last week that stated.."Teach you child to hunt and fish so they will never have money for drugs"..

Reasonably accurate..

I'm surprised you stated you enjoyed the KILL, I never (very seldom) enjoy the killing part, normally makes me a little or more than, sad !

A big Old trophy I have or my hunter has been after for a while is very rewarding & the "experience" is enjoyable !

Maybe getting some murderous Cat,Rodent or Canine,Bird, e:g Crow or Hawk ?
