Ash, thanks for sharing this. Very interesting and nice workmanship and finish.
However, the loading seems awkward; it is like you have to turn the rifle upside down to drop two new cartridges in.

Most unusual!
Elegant engraving & beautiful work overall to say the least!
Would imagine that the maker really only wanted 2 shots fired - ejecting would appear to be easy, but after that it would get rather messy........very quickly!

.450 Express in England/Scotland essentially a deer, or in India the Black Buck, rifle calibre......I suppose speed and ease of a reload was not really a factor.

By way of it's engraving scene subjects the rifle advertises itself as a lion and tiger rifle.
I'd prefer a quick reload.

We've seen a similar action type here before.
I'll have to scratch my head a bit and dig through the archives - I think the rifle was also a 450

If one couldn't down a charging cat with two shots, reloading is probably a moot point anyway.....
