.45 2 7/8" Sharps would do it, or shortened .450 BPE.

Nice mould, RSFKnives. I've been shooting 275gr. SWC's and 310gr. GasCheck bullets out of my .44's and a .444 in the 70's & 80's. Still have my 275gr. 4cavity Ohaus mould. I think there's a Lyman .300gr. mould in the drawer somewhere, too.
The 300gr.+ would made very good hunting bullets in your case.

I was thinking along the same lines here due to the thinner rim compared to the .444.
Will you be running BP in this or Nitro powders & what action are you using?
Certainly heavy duty moulds!

i used a .45 Basic case from Norma.
my thoughts when designing this were that if i built my double nrifle
why not a new cartridge
i will be using either norma or vihtavouri powder.
i´m looking to send the 270 gr bullet att about 660 - 710 msec
so nothing outrageus.

and as for the reason to build it.... why not

the double rifle is built on a brno 16ga sidelock action

That max speed of about 2,339fps with under 300gr. bullets, should have pressure easily down in the 30,000psi to 35,000psi range.

i have a 03a3 springfield barrel bored out after the war to 429. i think they were made to chop up into 44 magnum barrels but allways thought about a 444 springfield but ur cartage looks interesting. need to pull out one and see if it would fit. whats the total length?

.444 with a 22" twist would make a good '03 ctg.
