Is 10 gauge 2 7/8" ammunition available anywhere?

Does anyone have a source for new loaded 10 gauge 2 7/8" shotshells and is anyone still making it?

(I don't have the gun, but the one I'm looking at is a 1930's or 1940's vintage Ithaca double that a neighbor is willing to sell or swap)

This question just came up over at the Double Gun BBS. Looks like they're rare and expensive items even in the US.

The only real option I've found thus far is to buy 3 1/2" shells, cut them to 2 7/8" and load them...and unfortunately I don't shoot a shotgun enough to justify purchase of a shotshell reloader.

Just checked the price list for the Nitro Company Ammunition mentioned in the Double Gun BBS....they aren't exactly giving those 2 7/8" loads away!

Prices per box of 25 range from US $71 to US $98....and only a few months ago I passed on buying an old crate of 250 rounds of Winchester 10 ga. 2 7/8" for a mere $500.

I just sent Eley an email to see if they have distributors in the USA.

Adding this in case anyone else is looking for the same ammunition...

Just received information from Gareth Lawther of Eley, they are making a a 10 gauge 2 7/8" load with 1 1/4 oz of BB's, 2's, or 5's.

Eley produces these loads for the Bismuth Cartridge Company and it is sold in the USA exclusively through Bismuth.
