That was my initial thought as Purdey didn't use that good a wod on guns
of that age - or at least the ones I have seen and the one I had didn't have that
good a wood.

Purdey restocked it and refinished it.
All looks legit to me if you read the champlins web site.

Easy to check though if you were thinking of buying it.

I like the wood and I like the hammerless underlever. I'm just not sure they go together. And a rubber recoil pad?

Lovly rifle. Its right that Purdey used to don't care as mutch about the woods ad for instans Woodward. Tom Purdey have ones said that "the wood is only there to bring the metal to the shoulder"

I have handelsd a rifle in this caliber with underlever hammerless action that purdey build for a Royal. It had not as beautifull wood as this one. but the gun vas something of it self. There is not mutch that can compeete with this one.

I have also handeld a Purdey 8 Bore backaction underlever rifle. It shoulderd as a shotgun!!!
