Beautiful!

I went through 16 pages of this section last night looking for your posts... I think I like the Gibbs farqs and the WR “improved” martini’s the most. Would happily own any though!

Beautiful rifle.

One day I must have a Farquharson rifle. Classic english big game rifle of the golden times.

Thanks for sharing.

I just commented on the other thread, but it bears repeating here:

Quote:

Huvius,

That's a fantastic rifle I would be proud to own!

Just like Tinker, I'm not jealous, but there is something tingling in my gut and a green hue as I gaze upon your photo.

Congratulations,
Curl

Now THAT'S another Farqu I'd like to shoot. Love em! Curly's cast load is a lot of fun to shoot in the .450/400.

That's a Deley and Edge action if I am not mistaking.

Upon meditation over a martini and a bit of cheese, I can now embrace my jealousy.

It's jealousy.

Tinker,

Confession is good for the soul.

I confess to jealousy also!

Huvius,

Where did you find this treasure? We like the back story.

We need more pictures and a range report.

I can make a great suggestion for a cast bullet load that is very accurate and delightful to shoot. Watson577 modified my load (for the 3-1/2" chamber) somewhat to suit his Ruger No. 1 chambered for the 3" Jeffery round. That's your chamber, isn't it? You don't want to bang away with full nitro punishment.

How's your bore? The exterior looks almost pristine. More photos! We demand more photos!

Tinker and I may plan a commando raid to slake our envy.

Believe it or not this rifle was posted on gunbroker.
The description and pictures showed what could have been a very poor condition rifle but after talking to the seller and requesting some additional photographs I was confident enough that it was a good gun.
The entire rifle was covered in a substance that was intended to protect it - much like cosmoline - but whatever it was had gummed up the trigger and safety making them inoperable.
Knowing how the action works, I was pretty sure that the issue was the gumminess and grime causing the problem.
Steve Bertram received the rifle for me and did the cleaning. I’m sure he can better describe what it was like.
Turned out to be better than I was anticipating so am very happy with it.

It is chambered for the 3” Jeffery cartridge and the bore is very nice.
I have a couple grease groove molds I can try and my heavy paper patch bullet but would be interested in trying some of the reduced loads you guys have tried. The rifle seems light - I will weigh it next chance I get.
