Someone spent some time on this one. Anonymous but beautiful work in very usable 30-06 cal. Original Remington 1903 built in 1942. Looks German to me. Especially with the Kahles Wien H/4x60 in claw mount, knife handle bolt, tang safety, engraving, and weirdly shaped butt stock (which fits me quite well, by the way).

Do yourself a favor and finish this project with a milled trigger guard and follower. Then it'll look a bit more like this, and function better:

I didn’t build it. Someone with way-more skill created mine and kept all the 1942 parts. As far as replacing the trigger and mag plate I’d have a hard time reproducing the engraving.

I've seen it all now, engraving on a stamped trigger guard!
If you'll email me your address, I'll GIVE you an original machined Springfield bottom metal and follower. I just noticed yesterday that I had one lying around collecting dust. My email address is in my Profile.
