Click on the pics and addresses below to see the full pictures. I’m looking at having sights and sleeve bases made.
These are from an Oberndorf Type A take-off barrel in 9.3x62. I made a post a year ago asking who might be interested in a set of these if I could find someone to make a run of them. Well, now I have a set to copy.

The sights are going in the mail tomorrow to a fellow who has experience making sights. If you want one, let me know. If enough folks show GENUINE interest, and the sights can be made at a reasonable price, then this just might happen. To the best of my knowledge, these particular sights haven’t been made since before we bombed the Oberndorf factory.
As most of you know, DPCD has been making runs of Type A contour barrels the last couple years. I have two Gottfried Prechtl reproduction Oberndorf banded ramp front sights on order through Steve Bertram. One is 17mm and originally for 404 Jeff/10.75x68 (about 0.667” muzzle diameter) but should work for barrels up to .458” bore (DPCD has recently been doing 400 Whelens ). The other is 15mm (about .588” muzzle diameter) I had an 8x60 Oberndorf take-off barrel with this same size sight and muzzle diameter, and both the 9.3x62 take off barrel and my original 1939 Type A 9.3x62 have this size sight/muzzle diameter. These are currently the only two sizes that Gorrfried Prechtl advertises.

Great workmanship originally! Let's hope this gets off the ground & folks can get the real deal making up a 'old' Model Mausers again!

Agreed, the workmanship on the model A four leaf sight is excellent. It would be great to build a Model A type sporter for everyday use.

These sights were a standard in the trade. I have identical sights on my G.Gibbs DR.

Other Mauser sights from the 1939 Stoeger:
That cool little 'Peep Sight' was also available on the Mannlicher Schoenauer. My M1910 Takedown has one.

I have just had four Type A express rear sights made from original factory drawings. I require one for a project I have now and want to keep one spare. I will sell the other two I have had made

Great news; would it be possible to have high resolution photos of the items for sale as well as their price? Louis

I sent my original Type A 9.3x62 base and sight to a gunmaker here in the states a couple months ago. He said he would look at it, but later said he was too busy with other projects, and sent them back to me last week I am on the hunt again for someone to reproduce these sights. I do not wish to disparage the man. Gunmakers are busy making guns. I guess I need to find a machinist.

Matt , to make those sights in any quantity would require a tool maker to make a set of jigs/ tools, then find a machine shop ( probably a small one ) to turn them out for you. for a one off you could do it with existing tools but if your making more than a couple it gets more cost effective to have a jig, saves a lot of set up time.

I had the good fortune to visit oberndorf98 last week and view his rifles . The sights that he has had made are truly a work of art and whoever is lucky to snap them up will be getting a great bargain no matter what price you pay
