I recently purchased a set of shooting sticks to take with me to Africa. I purchased them at www.long-grass.com They are very well made from stained oak, and come apart so they fit inside your gun case. They are sized to fit anyone up to 6' 4" tall, and come with instructions on how much to cut off if you are shorter than that. I cut off 2 inches, and they work fine. Check them out.

By international treaty, I am banned for life from using shooting sticks due to screwing up ever shot I take with them.

I understand. They take some getting used to. I'll never take another shot off of the P.H.s shoulder. I've done that 3 times, and had 3 clean misses.

I have set that I bought and they are made of aluminium. They work telescopic and fold to be about 1 meter long and extended they go to 2 meters. There is 3 legs wich makes them real steady. They are lightweight and painted a brownish colour.Very very good thing to have around.Me and NitroX hunted with a pair of homemade ones wich can be seen on my little photo on the side of my posts. They worked pretty good.

Shooting shots off someones shoulder is very unreliable. At least I have always found it that way. Even worse with loud heavy recoiling rifles.
Mike,
Not using the PHs, or doesn't he use them?
I have a set of folding sticks too but find them a pain unless there is a blackamatic to go with them. Certain terrain requires sometimes requires them - eg lots of low bushes but where longer shots are required.

My P.H. does indeed have them and at times uses them. When I spoke with him some time back, I mentioned the pair that I purchased, and he was quite keen on seeing them. He liked the fact than they can quickly be converted to use from a standing, to kneeling, to a sitting position, and asked me to bring them along. And, of course, there will be a blackamatic to carry them.
