I had a Swarofski 10x42HD that stayed in Africa with my PH last year. Just bought the New 2017 Leica Geovid HD 10x42, have no time played with it much.
Loved the Swarofski but the Leica was on crazy sale and I took a chance.

Sorry, no experience with the Bushnel 1000.
I did, however use a Bushnel 800 compact for a lot of years gopher shooting - since about 1996.
I replaced it a few years back with a Vortex 1000. The Vortex automatically gives you the actual shooting distance on angled targets, which is nice here, due to the hills (mountains) and valleys (ditches between the mountains) - lots of up and down ranging. For flat shooting rifles over normal hunting ranges, this is not really important.
It has worked well for gophers shooting, as well as ranging large game. The 6X monocular is also appreciated compared to many other rangefinders. The range finders with 4X monoculars are more difficult to use - at least when I tested them, they were. the Bushnel had an 8X monocular - which was a really nice feature.
One REALLY nice feature of the Vortex was that is was $100.00 cheaper than the Leupold 1,300yard version, and gives the same 'declared' ranging on game as the 1,300 (& 1,500yard)yard Leupold range finders.
The Vortex is easier to use than the old Bushnel was, due to the smaller beam on the Vortex. The Bushnel's beam was quite tall and screwed with actual ranges due to close ranging things that were not close. I did get used to it quickly and learned how to hold it for good readings, though - not difficult.

BTW I have always liked the German post - cross hair reticle as well and my second scope was a custom Weaver 4x with it.
Hard to get them, so have since settled on the German cross hair reticle with the upper thick section removed ie the duplex with out the heavy bar on top. No1 or 2 ??? I forget.
I feel the thick post (preferably taper for accuracy) with cross hair is the faster centreing reticle for fast shooting.

I see Leopold makes a 1x4x20 hog scope for under 200 on eBay.has a hog plex which is similar to a duplex.was reading during this research of a guy who had the post made upside down which made some sense.

No, it's got 3.8"-4.2" eye relief.
Funny, I own two of these scopes and I didn't think of them when the "German" reticle was mentioned but that's really what they are:
They are wonderful, light 1" tube scopes. Leupold also offers the reticle with an illuminated central dot in the 1.25-4X30mm version.
Here's factory info: https://www.leupold.com/product-series/hog-rifle-scope
You can get either for a very reasonable price online from any of the big merchants or on the auction sites.
