Weaterby safety problem

I have read elsewhere on the web that Weatherby rifles can
fire unexpectedly when the safety is disengaged-is there
any truth to the rumour?

Weatherby has had a repair program for the older Vanguards for several years. It has to do with improper re-assembly of the bolt.

The Mark V safeties can become unreliable if dirty and rattled/jostled a lot. The Rem 700 factory safety has a similar problem, although the safety is a bit different.
