In my humble opinion, some of the best single shot rifles and bolt guns made...

I love that color case hardening, would look amazing in a really dark mottled timber... One more for the wish list...

Yeah. OK. Am I going to be the one that points out the Gorrila in the room?

I was watching the TV show "The Apprentice" the other day. Trump invited the contestants up to his penthouse for a feed and a look around. Great view over Central Park without doubt. But the inside of the place was the most garish, tasteless, completely over the top joint I have ever seen......

...... which in the context of this post is entirely relevant. Money can buy a lot of things, but it can't buy good taste.

These rifles arn't the worst I've seen, the Shah of Iran had something so over the top it was ridiculous, and the million Euro .308 was almost as bad, but they're in the same ball park.

Marty, I respect your opinion, but I must disagree.

I think the best quality single shots and bolt guns by Martin Hagn fit solidly in the classic tradition.

In any event, they appeal to my taste. That doesn't mean my taste is better than yours or that my opinion stands for more than yours. I just like the rifles. I would not be embarassed to carry one around.

Just MHO for the $0.02 it's worth.

That bolt at the top is simply lovely. Be a fine rifle to have while sporting a Stetson and looking for Kudu in East Africa...

I saw that bolt action 300 Win Mag in the "For Sale" section a couple of months ago at a gun show. It was sexy, though I like their falling blocks the best. I saw the double rifle they made a couple of years ago but unfortunately I did not handle it, nor did I have a camera with me. Ralph was able to find a bolt for my Brno #5 and he does assemble guns as well. Even though the web site concentrates on the Hagn falling block and custom mauser bolt guns, they are gunsmiths and not JUST custom gun makers.

You have to see and handle their rifles -your mind easily starts wondering and when you hear the price you think you are getting a bargin.Lost for words and that happens not often. Not quite Winslow Arms.
I feel very lucky to have had the pleasure visiting their tables at the Calgary gun show-#1 reason to go.

To say these are garrish or gaudy only demonstrates that you haven't seen or handled one yet! These are just quality, and in other times would bear the names of Jeffrey, Rigby, and most likely Purdey! I've handled all the ones shown extensively and have spent sufficient time in their shop to appreciate the work and standards that go into each firearm. They are 1st level gunmakers, .........hell, both of them have been offered jobs by the best known in the field of gunmaking but prefer to do their own thing.
At present there's 2 of my own rifles in their hands for work, and I have 2 more that they worked on, plus lots I've sent to them for other owners based on the fact that their work is as good as it comes. A good paint job does not make a Rolls, everything has to be perfect!

I don't know. I think they are absolutely beautiful rifles... especially the bolt action. Hell, I'd be afraid to take them anywhere or do anything with them. It would take all the fun out of owning either

Stonewall,

Welcome to the site.

When was the show in Calgary? I've heard much about it but forgot about it this year. Is it usually held on the Victoria Day weekend?

The Calgary show is always Easter weekend. Picked up a nice Farquharson in .450-400 this year at the show. ~Arctic~
