What sort of season did you have and when do you recon it will dry out and the grass is starting to dry off and lay over?
Particularly in northern eastern Arnhem Land.

It wasn't a particularly big wet season this year, with the rains being fairly late compared to last year which was bumper!

We got a good bit of rain out of Cyclone Ingrid, especially in the North East so I would say it is still pretty wet up there.

I was down the Adelaide river a few weeks ago and there was plenty of 'run-off' from the floodplains still being wet but I am going back on Friday so I will let you know. We were fishing and there were hogs everywhere, big mobs too! Taking the rifle this time!

South of Darwin, where the daly range is, the grass is still head height in most places I have seen but it is already getting pushed over by the winds. That said, there is still a bit of water around also.

The daly river is just stopping rising and beginning to fish well, I have been told, so a trip there may be on the cards very soon. Hopefully the floodplains will be walkable.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for that.
I want to be able to walk the flood plains so am planning on a trip around August/September.
Please keep me posted.

A friend is going to the Daly plains tomorrow chasing hogs so I will ask him how it was for you. August will coincide with the goose season so bring your shottie! Good time of year too, cool and dry, find a waterhole and you are set.

I would like to time it so that I'm in Gove on the 18th August,V.V.day.
I lost track of time last year and missed it by one day.

Yeah, sorry Alan: been busy with house-renovations and moving address. Sounds like tunofun has been getting out'n'about more than me!
