Lanber & Rizzini U/O shotguns Your opinion...
      #30142 - 27/04/05 08:51 PM

I have been umming and arring about getting a U/O for magpie geese for some time know and with only a few months before season, it has again popped into my head.

I looked at a Lanber 2097 and a Rizzini today and liked them both, the dark timber on the Rizzini was very nice and simce they are both similar in price (1350-1400) I cannot decide which I like best. The rizzini had external chokes which I like though. I am leaning towards the Rizzini, does anyone have either of these?

Cheers!

Lanbers were probably the most popular entry level clay guns in the UK for several years and had a good reputation for reliability. There are a couple of Rizzinis - E.Rizzini and B.Rizzini. One used to build inexpensive guns but have gone a little upmarket now and the other is rather more expensive. Both look pretty much like Berettas to me....like most Italian guns. I don`t think that there is a poor Italian O/U produced nowadays and their quality/reliabilty can almost be taken for granted.
Either gun should have a decent guarantee so it really comes down to personal taste - and I`ll bet the Rizzini looks prettier.......

My Swedish mate bought a Rizzini for geese during his Darwin posting. First trip out with it, we were walking from the car towards the swamp when a mob passed directly overhead: ol'mate fired one shot- down came two geese stone-dead! From that day on, he reckoned the Razza was a death-ray on geese!

Here he is at Harrison a couple of years ago, looking smug with the hardware item and a full bag!

Marrakai

Your mate is Swedish and is posted to Darwin? Is this lucky fellow doing an exchange with the Australian Army in Darwin? If so, lucky fellow.

The shop i went into the other day was not the one I usually shop at but I had an hour to kill and I was in the area so I went in to have a look at a few U/O's. The guns I was shown were claimed to be steel proof and I never checked to see the proof marks. They were in fact NOT steel proof and the guy was lying to me! Busted. I drove the extra 20km into town today to have a go at the salesman because he either knew nothing of these guns or was lying, I suspect lying after hearing a few stories... Very diapointed. Too bad there are no proof laws in this country regarding that, in europe he would be killed for that!
Actually, I went into my normal shop today after that and my mate rang the distributor to get a price on the Rizzini (actual steel proof) for me and the price was rather good due to a special going at the moment so I put one on order. Yay! Get it in a month...
