Nice group with my Europa 66
      #298258 - 01/04/17 09:50 PM

For two years i tried to find a good load for my Europa 66 in 8x68S.
But i was using A-frame bullet, and i have find a lot of problems.
Theese bullets are a little bit larger than the european, but it's enoght to bend the collet during the seating operation: the case is very thick and tough. The problem was solved using an acute angle burr and annealing the case. BUT theese good bullets tend to generate high pressure with N160 powder, and also reaching the max pressure i could just achieve 840 ms with 200 grains bullet without exceeding 4400 bar.Always having poor grouping but good terminal effect anyway.
Probably should try MRP powder instead.
Having still N160 i started reloading german bullets, DK, H-Mantel and TIG from RWS.
Well... The old Lady seems to preffer rws bullets. Always good velocity and nice grouping. This is the last outcome, yesterday afternoon.
As latins used to say... unicuique suum.

Is that about 2 3/4" to 3" for the 5 shots?

I would say you are getting there. A little more load development and youŽll find the sweet spot.

The rifle was zeroed with a different bullet.
The first shot is the One on the top. The second shot is the One on the left... A bad mistake with the trigger.. Then i applied the correction to the scope and the result was three holes 4cm over the mouche. With this setting i can aim the target up to 230 meters without corrections.

Good to see that you've finally found the sweet spot for this one Doc.
You can have a bad time for some calibres' & whatever you do just seems to all go to pot!
Sometimes a simple powder change can lead to a complete reversal in fortunes & then Eureka.....success.
It's a sweet feeling!
I had the same issue with my .308 Norma Magnum.
Great article mate - hope to see more from you.
Cheers

Re-post your articles under your own name and on a separate thread. They are worth it. And hopefully more discussion. I never knew whether to post your articles as you might want to do it yourself.

Keep the articles going. Good work and also good ideas for the next ones.
