As part of my "never ending" "Tiger Rifle" project, I would really appreciate it if guys (or girls) would post photos of their rifles chambered in .318 WR.
Ideally some will be original Westley Richards rifles, I am particularly looking for a style of rifle I saw on a magazine cover years ago.
BUT post any photos of .318 WR chambered rifles. For variety and diversity! See I can use PC terms! Can be modern custom stocked, plastic stock (!!!) or even double rifles. I know I have posted some of them in the past. Joel has posted some excellent ones too. And other members.
Thanks.

Made for an African retailer for resale. It's also my first Mauser restock that I've done.

Will do just need to come up with an extra $250 for checkering. I'm redoing a 47 dodge 3 window coupe and money for the toys only comes available once in a while. Almost done with it and the wife went out and bought a 55 Pontiac wagon. Rifle goes on back burner again.

Hi Ahmed, There was a few about in this calibre. I had one, and a well known hunter in the NT had one as well. I think his was dated 1935, and mine was 1937. Who said you cant make a satisfactory ejector with a rimless case? Mine worked flawlessly. LesLeeSpeed

G'Day Gents. A rare opportunity to purchase an uncommon and historically significant (RSA) firearm, has come about. Please see below for more details on this firearm, (to the best of my knowledge, all details and information are true and correct).
Rifle; Westley Richards, "Best Grade" Bolt Action, Serial Number- LT 38766 Calibre; .318 Westley Richards. Date of Manufacture; 1918. Originally made for; Mr L.A.DeJongh, of Rhodesia, Africa. After the Rhodesian War, Mr DeJongh relocated to RSA. Original Purchase Price; 65 Guinea's (apparently, in 1918 a farm in Africa could have been purchased for this same sum of money!). Firearm History; This rifle was purchased by the present owner, from a Mr De Jongh (Queanbeyan, N.S.W., Australia), the grandson of the original owner in 1999. Mr DeJongh (Jr), apparently, has the original Westley Richards Receipt of Purchase, for this rifle. According to Mr De Jongh (Jr), the rifle's original barrel was worn out shooting a lot of varied game animals which included among others, dozens of Leopards and thousands of Cape Buffalo (Rinderpest Eradication Program), whilst Mr L.A. De Jong was a Game Keeper, in Kruger National Park, RSA. Because of all of this hunting and also, a lack of factory ammunition, the original worn barrel was replaced (for a.308 Win barrel), by a gunsmith, in RSA The now new owner, then went about having this uncommon firearm restored, to it's original condition. He purchased the barrel Bore Reamer, Rifling Button, Chamber Reamer etc and had Mr Dennis Tobler manufacture a brand new ..318" calibre (,323" Groove Diameter), chrome molybdenum steel barrel of the appropriate twist rate, external profile and length. Mr Tobler, then chambered, head spaced and fitted the new barrel, to the Westley Richards M98 receiver. Mr Ross T Waghorn, an individual recognised as one of the worlds best artisans for building new and or refurbishing Best Grade firearms, was then given the responsibility of returning this firearm as close to its original condition, as is possible. This included restoring all of the metal work to it's original condition and refitting the original factory, front and rear open sites and regulating them for Kynock factory ammunition. Mr Phillip Vinicombe was give the task of restoring the existing factory engraving to its original condition and also engraving the new barrel, with the original Westley Richards script. The metalwork was then cold rust blued, by Mr Waghorn. Mr Waghorn then turned his attention to refurbishing the stock wood and recutting the checkering. The stock was then finished with a hand rubbed London Oiled finish. This would have been the finish that Westley Richards would have originally applied to the stock wood. The rifle comes supplied with a Special Order- "Group G", set of RCBS brand .318 WR reloading dies, 100 x new Bertram brand .318 WR head stamped, reloadable cartridge cases and two boxes (approx. 18 rounds), of Kynoch .318 WR factory ammunition and one box of 50, Woodleigh .318 WR, 250grn RN SN bullets. The rifle comes in a foam lined aluminium hard case. Price- $6,000.00 Australian, Firm!

G'Day Fella's,
Thank You for that Ripp, you are The Best!
Unfortunately my original, and now scanned photographs, do not do this wonderful rifle any justice. Also, it's proportions, handling and balance, is like a fine double SxS shotgun. Two things to note, is the shape of the bolt handle/knob and the "Cast" in the butt stock.
FYI, this rifle fitted me so well, it's stock proportions were replicated in my .404 Jeffery (which was made by Ross Waghorn).
NitroX, I hope that helps.
By the way, the rifle did sell, and for above the asking price!
Regards Homer

Noticed the bolt handle though had to look again for the cast. Not surprised it went for the asking price.
