The value of the .30-30 isn't so much in the cartridge as in the very light and short guns chambered for it. They're beautifully easy to carry and use. The cartridge is great as a three hundred pound game gun to about 100 yards and that takes care of one big bunch of shooting.
It's a very fine system!!

One of my favorite drillings is my very old Charles Daley sidelock sidecock in 12/12 & 30-30. I have much more modern and powerful calibers, but the 30-30 does just fine within the capabilities of the open sights.

A handy lever action in .30/30 sounds perfect for pigs in thick scrub. Fast, handy and with adequate power. A good fun gun.

My Marlin .30/30 is my favourite pig gun, nothing comes close to it when you are fighting your way through lignum swamp looking for something to shoot.

A 30.30 sounds fine!

303,

30-30s are beautiful, light guns. And if you love yours, I am sure that nothing else really matters.

Do you also own and shoot 303s? That's another superb round.

Good hunting!

It is a good round. I have taken deer and antelope with one.
