Each year these annoying damn things fly down from New Guinea or Indonesia ,also the Koel .not so annoying [imo],waking up to screeching damn Cuckhoos at 2am onwards ,evidently they are not ''Threatened '' Species like everything else is, according to the animal rights fruit loops .They also prey on small birds and nestlings which i think is the reason for the demise of Fairy Wrens,Finches, where my parents live ,they also lay eggs in other birds nests and push out the original nestlings ,so i really dont have alot of sympathy for them when they get hit by a shotgun and land on the ground with a satisfying THUMP !!!!!!!!!!! and then you can have a good night and mornings sleep with no goddamn screeching !!!!!!!!!! which if you grew up on a farm with a million other things bugging the crap out of you, like the Bank ,a good nights sleep is one of your only pleasures in life !

Can't say I've heard them here in NQ where I live!
Like 'Rule303' said Mr12g does a good job.
Hopefully I'll get my H&R Model 1915 410 here soon, my big Sis is having troubles at her house with bloody crows picking the fly screens apart again.
No sooner she fixes them & the buggers make another hole.

I have a solution for that. I will take some care though. If a crow/animal is hurt/injured and cannot identify why/where the hurt came from they leave what/where ever they are.

Make sure the fly wire is the metal/alloy type and attach a car battery to it. Make sure the crows ca not see the battery or leads. Things need to look normal. Once they start getting zapped and can not identify a source other than the screen, they wont be back any time soon.

Thanks Rule303, shame I'm 400+km away from my Sister.
Will pass the info onto her & see if her son-in-law can have a crack at it for her.
Cheers

Hook it up to Mr Shocko Hot Wire if you have a farm fence

I fail to see the car battery working, if you hook it to the screen it will cause a dead short that will burn the screen and possibly cause a fire. You would have to hook the battery to a magneto of some kind, and then the bird landing on something and then touching the screen would complete the circuit. Quite a complicated procedure. Unless I am missing something here. (I am getting to that stage in life) Al

Fellow in Windsor Ont. hooked up 115volt house current to his garbage can and Zapped a kid in the 60's - second degree murder. He was targeting the neighbourhood dogs who raided his can. Turned out it wasn't a dog doing it.
