Read their conditions of sale - immediate payment by cash or prior approved check, removal from premises the day of auction, purchaser responsible for shipping with a list of people who can arrange shipping. You've got to wonder what prices would have been realized if the auction house had made it convenient for online bidding and provided shipping etc. like most of the firearms auctions. I saw no advertising of the auction and was aware of it only because of a post on another forum yesterday, I believe. Those things stopped me from bidding.

Yes, thirdbite, I think they did a disservice to the family of the deceased collector.
A little advertising would have gone a long way.
I do not think that the auction house has much experience with firearms as their descriptions were not very thorough.
Especially the shotguns. No measurements, bore condition reports or even weights which shotgun buyers demand before bidding.
They too could have just done a little research to get a feel for what these guns are really worth.
When was the last time you saw four David McKay Brown round actions in one auction?! Those went for a song IMO. Hell, Skinner could have just bought most of the guns at their high estimates and done themselves a favor by sending it all to Julia's!

Just shows how important it is to give your estate executors clear instructions of whom to contact and where to send specialist items...
