BRNO ZKK 600 (1967) 9,3x62
      #288634 - 03/10/16 06:51 AM

Hello,

I have just bought this BRNO ZKK 600 in 9,3x62, made in 1967. I have not yet physically but the seller sent me the following pictures.
Seem to be made much, much better than my other BRNO ZKK 601 in .308 made in 1977. Still with the peep sight in the rear action bridge.
Have any of you a BRNO ZKK from that first years of production? I will appreciate any further commentary about this...
DORLEAC show us, some time ago, a fantastic ZKK 602 rechambered from .358 NORMA to .404 J, reworked by him. From that same year of 1967. He speak very well of the quality of the original rifle.

Thank you all!

Great pick up mate & good calibre as well!
I had one of these in 7x64mm & sold it.....silliest thing I've done.
Mine had a very slick action & was rather accurate as well.

Those early ZKK models are a lot of rifle for the money...grossly undervalued IMHO......excellent quality. Plus quite uncommon in 9.3x62...well done.

My 1969 ZKK 602, originally .375 H&H, now .500 Jeffrey:

Lon Paul did the conversion and stock work. The Model 70 type safety is by Ed LaPour.
It is a pleasure to shoot, and accurate as well.

I recently sold my Brno ZKK 6.5-06. It was a beautiful rifle but I had no real use for that calibre. It had been rebarreled for the 6.5 cartridge but had the original barrel sling hanger and front sight on the new Douglas barrel. Also had the pop up peep sight and the single set trigger.

You need to be careful if attempting to lighten the trigger pull, adjusted from the top using the screw in front of the rear tang screw (visible in one of the photos). If adjusted too light the bolt will uncock as it is closed especially if worked rapidly when reloading.

Adjust the set trigger until the bolt does uncock when closing rapidly then gradually increase trigger pull weight until the bolt does not uncock when rapidly closed. I did not touch the trigger on my rifle when I took possession of it but noticed the bolt uncocking when on the range even without working it vigorously.
A live cartridge did not fire as it uncocked but potentially a cartridge could fire if the bolt was slammed close after feeding a round from the magazine and chambering it. BE CAREFUL.

There is info published on some forums on the trigger mechanism and adjustment, I have it if you need it.

Thank you all!

I will appreciate, eagle27, that information. Thank you!
I will try to find a single trigger that used to came with these rifles. I have one that came with the ZKK 601 308W but is in the rifle. If can't find one, I will copy this.

Had an early one, pre 1970 - in .358 NM - rebarreled it in 1973 with an unfired ZKK603 .375H&H barrel - screwed right on, headspace perfect & used it for 3-p0 with cast 260gr. and 23gr. SR7625 - 1"@100yds.(I could see then) with factory rear bridge peep. I really liked the set trigger.

Foolishly sold it in 75, owner would not sell it back - tried - he merely said - "You and all of my hunting friends want it - not going to happen, I love it for these island deer - your load, too - 67gr. IMR4064 and 270gr. PP - hole in, hole out, DRT and no damaged meat?"

G'Day Fella's,

Patagon Hunter and xausa, Thank You for sharing these images.
That 9.3x62 is a natural, in that action!

I once seen a ZKK 600 chambered in 8x57, with a factory Mannlicher full length stock.
I have images somewhere, only one I have ever laid eyes on/handled, or heard about!

FYI here is a link to a post of mine on another forum;
http://forum.nosler.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=34073&p=368839#p368839
It shows my 1970 vintage ZKK 600.
As you will see in the images, the top of the receiver ring has the same markings but has a "Rapid Feed" milling cutter, Anti-Glare finish on it as well.

Doh!

Felicitaciones Patagon !

Hola Ernesto,

Thank you! Yes, I'm very interested! It is the single trigger? If it is I can buy it! Or, if you need an original compleat set trigger, also in its canvas bag, I have one to change.

Best Regards!

PH

Looks like a very nice rifle, and in a pretty rare calibre too.....congratulations.

I own 2 x 1967 ZKK's........a .375 and a .222. The .375 I've owned for more than 20 years. It has been restocked and rust blued. A lovely old rig which I took to Africa in 1997. The .222 I picked up about 2 months ago. Haven't had a shot out of her yet but hoping to this weekend. Just finished mounting a 3.5 - 10X Meopta in Alaska Arms QD mounts on her. Both have the "normal" trigger.

Let us know how yours shoots.

Cheers.

GG

Hi GG,

Beautiful rifle! Very nice wood! By the way, I have the same Alaska Arms rings in my ZKK 601 .308 Win (1977). Will go, together with the Schmidt & Bender 1,5-6x42 ret. 4, to the 9,3.
Thank you.

Sincerely

PH
