Have your friend look at the loads on the barrel flats that the rifle was regulated for.
Example: My 450 No2 was regulated for 75 grains of Cordite [Tropical load, your buddies double may state 80 grains cordite]. Take the Grains of Cordite and multiply by 1.19, ie 75 X 1.19 = 89.25 grains of RL 15.
Drop a few grains for safety and I would start with, say 87 grains. Work up watching for pressure untill the rifle shoots good. My rifle shoots good with 88 grains of RL 15 and 480 Woodleigh soft/solids, 500 Hornady soft and old solids, and 500 Swift A Frames.

I knew .450 No 2 NE would jump in. He gave me my first suggested loads, which I converted to AR powders, around 105 grs of AR2213SC, which I reduced to 103 grs and 105 gr came in the bet though high which I have lived with so far.

A couple of other guys also gave me suggested loads and the 105 grs AR2213SC was pretty consistently the one.

NE450No2:
What do you mean by "watching for pressure"?
This is dangerous advice for a reloading novice:
the first signs of dangerous pressure in a Brit double may well be spontaneous violent disassembly a few inches in front of the shooter's face!

The proper advice is to shoot over a chronograph. With powders in the medium-slow to slow burning rate, loads which do not exceed the published muzzle-velocity of the original cordite loads will generally be safe in a Brit double.
