I was only talking about lead filled bullets. Have not tried swaging Barnes X
and I am not too sure it would work.

Lead filled bullets are cheaper than Barnes anyway.

I don't think it would work with Barnes X or other monos, and you might need a really beefy press for some of the partition types. I've never reduced a bullet that much and don't know how well it would work.

I swage down 9.3 bullets .003" for use in one of my doubles. These bullets work perfectly. RWS, Woodleighs, Hawks, Speers, etc. go through very easily. Even though .003" isn't much, Swift A-Frames are impossible in my press. Never tried a mono, as I'm loading for a double and don't use them in it, but I would think they would be as bad or worse.

Boddington said he did this in two steps, which I would think would make it easy. If you have a garden variety 7/8" reloading press (mine is an RCBS "C" type, I can't remember the model name) all you need is the reducing dies. I got mine from Corbin Manufacturing in White City, Oregon, about $90US IIRC. This is for one die, of course, and I presume you'll need two. The die screws into the usual place and the bullet punch goes where the shell holder usually is. I use ordinary case lube. Simple, fast, no aggravation.

I have three presses now. My first was a dinky little RCBS Junior or something like that. That served me for years and years.

Then when I acquired the .450 No. 2 I ended up purchasing a large turrent press but also asked about an RCBS single stage "Ammomaster" I think it was (???) It was designed for the .50 BMG. Something got mixed up and the gunshop thought I ordered it so I I took it anyway. It does make loading really long shells easier than unscrewing the seating die each round.

I have used a .318 Westley Richards bolt gun made by them in the 1950s, since I acquired it in 1964 or 65. It is a fabulous gun and an even better cartridge.
Oddity; it has a 28" barrel.
It has been compared to and was better than a .333 or .338 OKH or .338/06 long before those cartridges were even thought of.
I have taken whitetail deer, moose, black bear, musk ox, caribou and a walrus with it and it has never failed to do its job of putting meat on the table. It is my primary moose rifle.
Good shock factor, penetration, expansion, a fairly light recoil and little meat spoilage.
I'm just a little leery of using it against any of the large, brown, grizzly or especially polar bears, which abounded in the region I was living. I had a .425 Westley Richards bolt gun for them.
I give credit to the Laplanders who go against polar bears with 6.5 X 55s.
Westley Richards loads ammo for it, brass is available for reloading, bullets and powders abound, what more can you ask!
A Classic British Cartridge made available for today's hunting environment. Absolutely the last gun I'll ever part with!

I totally agree with you.

The 318WR is an outstanding cartridge.

I had 3 WR 318's but never one with 28" barrels.

I just sold one last week which had 25" barrel, the other 2 have
25" barrel and 20" barrels.

When I get my 333J, I'll try and do a comparison on game of the
2 rounds - I would like to see the difference.
