I just saw this company's website and they list Calcutta as one of their showroom locations. I couldn't go into the site for some reason as none of the tabs opened.

Lynx? Rustam? Anyone know anything about it?

Haven't the foggiest, Mehul.

I very much doubt they would still have a showroom in Calcutta, though. Probably retained that just for old times sake.

Lynx's uncle may recall them. Will ask him.

I don't think that this is an old British company lately absconded by the colonials. To my best knowledge, Hatfield started down in Kentucky or Tennessee. I wasn't even aware that they had moved to Idaho. Maybe Ray bought them out?

Anyway, how they could have a shop in Calcutta mystifies me . . . unless it's Calcutta, Somewhere-in-the-States.

Mehul,

Is it possible that they have some of the manufacturing done in Calcutta, with the finishing work being done elsewhere, thus allowing them to list Calcutta as one of their locations (even if they do not sell guns there)?

Oldsarge,

After reading your post I did a web search on this company and they seem descended from the feuding Hatfields and Mc Coys. I am still surprised at the "Calcutta" on their website and Google did not seem to show any Calcutta in the USA.

Thanks for the information and if Ray has bought the company, he should offer members at the forums a discount on prices.

500 Grains,

All of the Calcutta gunmakers consolidated into one company some years ago. Ashootosh and Co, O C Daw, G M Biswas, Manton and Rodda. They sell old imported guns and some Indian Ordnance Factory rifles these days. I do not know of anyone manufacturing shotguns in Calcutta though there are companies that manufacture shotguns in several other states in India.

I am planning to write to the Indian Arms Manufacturers' Asssociation Secretary to find out - just out of curiosity, but it would be nice to know. If indeed good shotguns are being made in Calcutta, it would be a huge boon for Indian shooters!
