Welcome to the forum, 303. What an entrance! Which is better? They're both bloody marvellous in the right guise: as British factory-sporters, of course!

I own both types and shoot both types. Result? I love both types!! You just can't compare them, they are both completely different with different characteristics both good and bad.

Just shoot them and enjoy them and don't give a monkey's what any one else thinks!!!

I own both types, I shoot both types,
I have 20 Martini's, one Enfield-SMLE
I shoot my Martini's. I have shot the Enfield
My Favorite is a 6 1/2 lbs Commercial Martini Henry w/24 inch bbl in 577/450 Express chambering.

When I went to Africa I used two Martini's to hunt.

A Westley Richards ZAR Martini 577/450 for big stuff.

An I. Hollis .218 Mashburn Bee for the little stuff.

It may have been a package South African plains game hunt with no Rowland and Ward/SCI trophies, if you hunt for and with what you like and can afford your ego will be sufficiently salved.

Well done, that man. Always like t'see a chap grass the beasts with good history as well as good shootin'. Did much the same thing m'self last summer with a .318 WR and a .404 Jeff. O'course a '06 and a .416 Rem would have been more practical but what would the fun o'been in that? Nice choice in iron, what?

Both are superb choices but don't tell the "Mauser mafia" (an absolutely complimentary term, by the way ) about liking Enfields. They are certain to agree with your father, but might declare you persona non grata.

I love both myself and hope to get a Martini that a member here has offered soon.

Good hunting!
