I am looking at a used Chapuis 470 double rifle for $7250.00. The rifle looks to be in really good condition in the pictures. However, it is said to have been fired 1000 times. I was wondering if any of you have experience with these guns, and is the 1000 round count too much to consider buying this rifle.

Thanks

1000? Or is that a misprint in the ad?

I suppose that sounds like a lot for a double barreled elephant rifle.

If it isn't loose or off face and still regulates well, sounds like a decent price.

If properly looked after, a mere 500 rounds per barrel is a trifle for a big-bore.

Just examine the thing properly if you can, and rejoice in the fact that it has been exercised frequently by the previous owner. Not sure of their retail in the US but that sounds like a decent saving on the new price.

Hell, my favourite double is 77 years old and has probably had quite a few thousand rounds down the barrels, a couple of thousand while in my custody. Bores still look like new.

Thanks for the info! I'll give it some thought.
