      #27435 - 07/03/05 05:17 PM

I was wondering, does anyone have any idea or a souce for information on whom has what double rifle market share of new rifle sales?

ie Merkel, Krieghof, Heym, Searcy, the English makers, others etc?

...one of the double gun publications (dgj or shooting sportsman) stated (in an article within the last couple of years) that california rigby's was the leading supplier of state-side doubles...not able to verify this either way...

Not the % you're looking for, but Chapuis claims to be the world's largest mfg of double rifles - something like 20K produced.

That`s a really interesting question. I reckon that the annual production of British built guns will amount to a small fraction of one percent of the total. I wonder what percentage of all rifles built annually doubles represent ?

The last I saw was that Kreighoff
did more than all English makers
combined. It did not mention other
countries. I think that was 2 years
ago. Merkel must have a large percent
of the market;but I have not seen any
data.

k80,

...i assume that you are a krieghoff k80 user...would be interested to hear your opinions on that model when compared to, say, the merkel or the beretta ou's...

...did you ever acquire that beretta gold sable?...any thoughts on how the sable compares with the rizzine 9.3 ou that you mentioned recently?...

...thanks for your thoughts...

te

I prefer the Krieghoff K80 it is
as dependbale as you can find in
a competition ou. The triggers
IMHO are the best out there.
I have owned several Bretta,Browning,
etc.
I did not handle the Beretta Sable.
I think the Rizzini would be nice
in 7x65r ; but it seems too light
for 9.3.

...thanks...yes, heard that the krieghoff k80s were very good competition guns...

...my sable weights in at around 8.5 pounds (with sling and the slightly larger euro-style stock)...the recoil using factory norma 285 gr. orxy loads is negligible...slightly sharper than the recoil of a standard 12 gauge...
